The software
I find the pokerstars software the easiest to use, especially when you are playing multiple tables. Stars have introduced a number of cool features such as resizable tables, one click tournament registration, one click waiting list registration, kickass customizable avatars and advanced hand history options.
They also have 50 big bet minimum tables which you can join if you dislike playing with short stacks. Not to mention there normal speed tables and fast tables.
For those like me who don’t have perfect vision, the tables can be enlarged and a 4 colour deck can be selected for added clarity. If a blind fool like myself can play 8 tables at once, anyone can.
Reliability wise pokerstars is second to none, I have never experienced one server / game crash within the 3 years I have been playing there. The software never lags and action is conveyed clearly.
Team pokerstars
Much like at full tilt, you can learn, chat and play with the pros at pokerstars. They have managed to recruit my favourite poker player of all time, Barry Greenstein. Barry plays on the website regularly as well as inputting into the software of the site / management of the room. You may also be familiar Daniel Negreneau a world class cash game and tournament player. Not to mention the 3 WSOP main event winners Chris Moneymaker, Greg “Fossilman” Raymer, and Joe Hachem.
Tournaments and SNG’s.
Pokerstars has a huge selection of sit and goes, they have them ranging from the very small buyins of $1 upto $5000 buyin. They offer them in full ring format, 6max and headsup. You can also find a variety of structures such as turbo, slow structure, no blind increase and deepstack play.
Tournament wise pokerstars cannot be beat. They have tournaments setting off every minute and they often draw a huge number of players (and consequently a huge number of fishy players) Much like sit and goes they offer tournaments in a number of games, structures and buyin levels. On Sunday they host there weekly Sunday Million guaranteed tournament, where for $215 buyin you get a chance to take away there top prize which is in the region of $200’000. Not a bad earner if I don’t say so myself.
Pokerstars also sends more people to the WSOP each year then any other poker room, around the march / april time they have a huge number of satellites with added free packages to the prize pool. You will not find an easier place on the planet to qualify to any large tournament. No wonder pokerstars has had the majority of WSOP main event winners over the past 5 years.
Cash games
When I made my first attempt to play the game professionally, pokerstars was where I started. I would wake up and play about 16 hours, then go back to sleep. Consequently I would say I have acquired a huge knowledge about how there cash games run. The fact that a averagely talented player like myself can make a living from playing middle limit cash games on pokerstars should go a long way in making you believe that… these games are soft.
At peak times the games are overrun with loose passive fish, who you can isolate in position and pound away at them. There is lots of money to be made here. Usually at each limit (except $5-$10+) there are in the region of 50+ tables to select at any one time. Game selection / fish selection is very good!
Unlike other rooms I find the tables very clear and it’s easy to identify what position you are in compared to the button / blinds, what players have bet what amounts and the general game flow. I am a firm believe that multitabling on pokerstars is easier then any other website.
Reward / VIP system
Pokerstars has the best reward program in the poker industry. Whenever you play a raked hand, or enter a tournament you get FPP’s (Frequent player points) which can be redeemed for a huge selection of electronics, poker books / dvds, tournament entries and cash bonuses. When you reach the supernova level of play, the FPP / bonus program is very comparable to a rakeback deal. In one month where I played every single day, I earned 3 $1500 bonuses in a single month. Believe me, pokerstars knows how to treat there high volume players well.
Overall
I can safely recommend pokerstars as the number one poker room on the internet. There are very few faults I can find in the software and I play on the website virtually every day.
